Madison County NC SAVAN

North Carolina’s VINE service is the North Carolina Statewide Automated Victim Assistance and Notification system, commonly called NC SAVAN. VINELink provides its online search. The service connects available North Carolina state-prison data and participating county-jail data, including custody events supplied through the state system. It is designed for a named-person check and forward-looking notification, not as a public list of everyone recently released from Madison County.

Coverage across custody systems does not merge the underlying records. A Madison County Detention Center event comes from the county custody stream. An NCDAC result comes from state corrections. If the county reports “released” while NCDAC shows the person as an active inmate, Madison County may have transferred the person to state custody. Those entries describe two steps in the same custody chain rather than conflicting facts.

VINELink does not replace the Sheriff’s booking and release record, an NCDAC correctional history, or a signed court order. It gives a useful status event. Ask the source custodian for the exact release mechanism, time, and receiving agency when those details matter.

Search a Madison County Inmate

Start with the correct state and one identified person. Madison is a common county name across the country, so confirm that the portal shows North Carolina and that the reporting agency fits the known custody event. A jail or offender identification number is stronger than a name. If only a name is known, use all available identifiers and do not select a result solely because the spelling matches.

1. Open VINELink and choose North Carolina. Select the people or offender search rather than a general web result.
2. Enter the full name. Add an offender or jail ID when known, since it reduces the risk of a same-name match.
3. Compare the custody agency, facility, identifiers, and other displayed facts before opening the person record.
4. Read the current custody status and reporting facility. Note whether the event came from Madison County or NCDAC.
5. If the result is absent or unclear, call NC SAVAN and then the source agency. A lag, alias, name error, or different custodian can cause a false negative.

1. Open the confirmed person record and choose its registration or notification option.
2. Select the custody events offered, such as release, transfer, or another status change.
3. Choose an available phone, text, email, or TTY channel and enter the contact destination carefully.
4. For telephone alerts, create a memorable four-digit PIN. Store it where the intended recipient can retrieve it.
5. When the automated call arrives, listen to the message and enter the PIN to acknowledge receipt.
6. Update the registration if the phone number or email changes, and cancel it when notices are no longer needed.

If the telephone alert is not acknowledged with the PIN, NC SAVAN policy provides for retries for up to 24 hours. The operator line, 1-877-627-2826, is available around the clock for help with the service. A failed call or missing alert should not be treated as proof that no event occurred. Contact the reporting agency when timing is important.

Note: The four-digit PIN confirms receipt of a call; it does not unlock a correctional, court, or release record.

Madison NC SAVAN Notice Layer

NC SAVAN is distinctive because one notification layer can surface county-jail and state-prison events. That reach is useful, but the source label must remain attached to each event. A Madison County release alert can precede an active NCDAC inmate entry when the jail transferred the person to state custody. An NCDAC “release with supervision” alert can be followed by an active probationer or parolee record. Neither sequence is a contradiction.

Registration is forward-looking. It cannot reliably reconstruct an old minute-by-minute release after an event has passed or left the public interface. A request for a certified release time, transfer destination, or bond disposition belongs with the Madison Sheriff, NCDAC, or the court that created that fact.

Telephone support is also useful when the web result is hard to match. Ask the operator about the NC SAVAN record and available notification steps, not for an opinion about what the release means. If the source agency is unclear, write it down before acting on the status. The reporting agency determines whether the next check belongs with Madison County Detention Center or state corrections.

Madison Release With Supervision

A state-prison alert that says release with supervision describes departure from confinement plus continued correctional control in the community. It is not final discharge. Check spelling and identifiers, confirm North Carolina, and identify the last known custodian.
